Backyard weddings are my favorite. And I had so many favorite images of Kelly and Luke's wedding that I had to separate it into two posts. You can see the first part here. They got married in July at Kelly's mom's house, where Kelly grew up. The greatest thing about a backyard wedding is the familiarity of eveything... the nostalgia. It felt like a gigantic, but of course fancier, family reunion. For their reception, they chose to bring in a massive tent and a myriad of gorgeous chairs, tables and other vintage decor. There were little nooks everywhere for friends and family to get acquainted or reacquainted. Kelly and her family tackled much of the decor themselves and everything came together beautifully.
The warm summer evening was pretty typical of Michigan... balmy and breezy. And as the sun set, friends just kept arriving to join in the fun. Soon, the tent was full to bursting with folks kicking up their heels in the name of Kelly and Luke. Everyone was instantly friendly, even if it was their first meeting. It didn't matter- if you were a Kelly or Luke fan, you were all in. The party continued late into the night and long after I left, I'm certain neighbors were treated to the happy sounds of their joyful celebration. It was one I know they'll never forget.
