If rain is good luck, then Kim and Jake have everything they need for their happily ever after. They got married on a November Saturday and in usual Lansing, Michigan fashion, the weather was unpredictable. There was intermittent rain forecasted for most of the day, but it was hard to tell when or if there would be a break in the rain. Kim had hoped to take photos outside... there was still some color left on the trees and we were keeping a positive attitude. Checking in frequently with my best friend, Storm Radar, I was pretty sure that if we got a dry spell, it would be short and sweet. And it was. It rained and rained, through their ceremony and through portraits with family. Kim was really wishing for some light and airy outdoor photos, so we decided to head to see her grandma at an extended care home nearby and wait out the rain a bit. And do you know what greeted us there? A pair of massive white pillars under an expansive porch framed with beautiful ornamental trees. It was the perfect solution to the unpredictable weather. Undercover and dry, we were able to get the photos Kim wanted, stress-free. Following that, we headed out for a little pool and conversation before their reception. What started as an uncertain day filled with rain, ended in a huge celebration of love. The perfect start for Kim and Jake.
